What is the Incident Command System (ICS)?
The Incident Command System (ICS) is a uniform, scalable command structure that can be activated to address park-wide emergency incidents.
NPS emergency operations are conducted using ICS as part of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Under ICS, the Incident Commander (IC) has overall responsibility for managing the emergency incident.
Once ICS is activated, park emergency response actions, including actions for the museum program, fall under the IC's authority.
